New Year's Resolutions
I love the Dork Tower. So this is why I'm not making resolutions about board games this year :) Don't get me wrong - I'm really trying to play my un-played games. I really don't need to spend cash on new games that I haven't played just to play them once. I really Do want to play the games I have more. But I'm human and flawed, so I know I'll expand my collection. I also know that I get different gaming itches and not any one game scratches all the itches the right way. Its like food - I like a variety of things. Sometimes you want something light and healthy, sometimes you want something fried and greasy. Sweet, sour, spicy, bland, grilled, baked, with meat, or with extra meat and bacon and butter. Gaming is like that. Sometimes I want a little randomness, or player confrontation or theme or abstract or short or long, yada yada yada.

are negotiation games in the vegetable group, then?
There are so many reasons to not buy games, and there are so many reasons TO buy games. However, I know that if I was not fortunate enough to have friends like you, Charles, I would not experience such a diversity in games. So, thank you for supporting my habit, and may the game buying continue! (I will be more than happy to help you play those unplayed games too.)
Yes, I think I've been really lucky in the gamers I've met. Rob, Jason Sato, Bobby and Mike Gingold introduced me to so many different games that I'm pretty sure it was nearly 6 months after I met the AZ boardgamers before I played a game for the second time. After moving to Omaha, Mike Garrett introduced me to a lot of games that never would have hit the table in AZ. Though I'm mostly a bland dry euro-gamer at heart, there is plenty of room for thematic unbalanced Ameritrash as well :)
I don't think I can sum up my taste for games that easily. It's probably easier to draw conclusions from the games I dislike.
